Archbishop Jovan (Vraniškovski)

Jovan Vraniškovski, born on February 28, 1966, is the head of the Orthodox Ohrid Archbishopric, an autonomous Church. He graduated from the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Orthodox Theology in June, 1995 and then started his master’s studies. He obtained a doctoral degree with a doctoral dissertation on "The Unity of the Church and the Contemporary Ecclesiological Problems." In July 1998 he was consecrated a bishop with the title Bishop of Dremvitsa. In March 2000, he was elected the Bishop of the diocese of Veles. His Eminence wrote several books, among others A Short History of the Orthodox Ohrid Archbishopric (Ohrid, 2007), The Freedom in the Prison (Skopje, 2007), and many articles and studies. He participated in many international symposiums and gave lectures on numerous seminars.

The goal of the symposium is to highlight those elements and aspects of Saint Chrysostom's teaching that are relevant for our time, especially the theological, historical, pastoral, exegetical, psychological, and other questions it raises. A number of areas present themselves as interesting foci for the conference: theology, anthropology, hermeneutics, human nature, modern and ancient philosophy.
